“The pleasure we derive from journeys is perhaps dependent more on the mindset with which we travel than on the destination we travel to.” - Alain de Botton, British author and philosopher.
Road Trip 2023
Hey dear Foodies!
Last weekend I had a quick road trip with some awesome friends. The destination: St. Augustine, FL. I had lots of fun and created some great memories; nevertheless, this road trip made me think of some great tips to share.
When you decide to take a road trip w family or friends, plan ahead and prepare. Take your time to research the place you decided to visit and prepare your actual driving trip and prepare for any reservations (hotel, restaurants, trip activities, etc) of your final destination.
Remember to get plenty of sleep before your drive. This helps build up the necessary energy for the drive during the road trip. Although, you could also plan to have a 2nd driver who can take over the driving so the main driver can rest.
The next suggestion comes from a foodie’s point of view: remember to get healthy road trip snacks. Although it’s also good to have a couple of yummy comfort food treats to share. Having snacks not only makes you share with friends, but it can also help skip any food stops down the road and save some time (and money, for that matter).
During the drive and the whole road trip, remember to stay hydrated. Water supply is the best liquid to have well-stocked for more energy.
Depending on how long the drive is and the people who may be with you, remember to plan your rest stops My trip was relatively short – only 4 hours – and I was with adults so we only had one quick rest stop. But if you have a long drive and probably have kids with you, take more than one break in order to stretch your legs and recharge a bit.
I hope these suggestions help out on your next road trip. Although, if you have any more tips to share, please leave them in the comment section below. I would love to get some more feedback on how to enjoy a great road trip.
Life is a Highway!
Enjoy the road trip and create great memories.
