I recently gathered up with some friends after a long time without seeing them. We gathered at El Camino restaurant, located inside CityPlace in West Palm Beach, Florida. This was an afternoon of great conversations, lots of laughter and, of course, delicious food. 😋 I highly recommend this place!
Sometimes, the best foodie experiences aren't only about what's on the plate. They're about who is sitting around the table with you.
A Sunny Afternoon in West Palm Beach 🌴
Our afternoon started surrounded by that unmistakable South Florida atmosphere: beautiful blue skies, palm trees and the lively surroundings of CityPlace.
Walking through the area already puts you in a good mood. There's something about combining Florida sunshine, restaurants, people walking around and a relaxed weekend atmosphere that makes you want to slow down and enjoy the day.
Then it was time for El Camino Mexican Soul Food.
Walking Into El Camino 🌮
El Camino has a fun personality from the moment you walk inside.
The restaurant combines an industrial, modern and slightly rustic atmosphere with exposed ceilings, brick details, large windows, greenery and those eye-catching green booths. There's plenty happening around you, yet the restaurant still feels comfortable enough to sit back and have a long conversation.
And that's exactly what we did!
Menus came out, chips and salsa arrived at the table, drinks started appearing, and before long, everyone was catching up.
Food, Drinks & Good Conversation 🍹
Of course, you can't have a Foodie Fun Fair outing without talking about the food!
El Camino specializes in Mexican-inspired dishes, and the whole experience has that casual, social feeling that makes Mexican food so much fun to enjoy with a group.
One of my favorite little moments was simply having a refreshing cocktail in hand while talking with friends. Mine was colorful, fruity and beautifully garnished with fresh strawberry and cucumber—the perfect companion for a warm South Florida afternoon.
And yes, there was definitely a moment when the sunglasses came off, landed on top of the menu, and it officially became:
Okay... now it's time to eat! 😂
But the Best Part Was Around the Table ❤️
As much as I enjoy discovering restaurants, this afternoon reminded me why food has always meant more to me than simply finding something delicious to eat.
Food brings people together.
There were six of us gathered around that table. We talked, laughed, ate, enjoyed our drinks and caught up after not seeing each other for quite some time.
Nothing complicated. Nothing extravagant.
Just friends sharing a table again.
And sometimes, those are exactly the foodie memories worth keeping.
Would I Go Back to El Camino?
Absolutely!
If you're visiting West Palm Beach and looking for a lively place to enjoy Mexican food, cocktails and a fun atmosphere with friends, El Camino at CityPlace is definitely worth adding to your list.
Come hungry, bring some friends and—most importantly—give yourself enough time to sit around the table and enjoy the conversation.
Because sometimes the best ingredient isn't actually on the menu.
It's the company. ❤️

Because food deserves to have fun too! 😋
