"A vacation helps to relieve the stress and boredom, gives us a change of scenery, provides us with adventure, and helps to bring us closer to the people in our lives." - E.S. Woods
As a Foodie, I believe that traveling to a new place or revisiting a destination already known is a great way to encounter new dishes and tasty foods. It's a way to learn more and share more about the culture of the visiting destination.
But traveling also gives us an opportunity to relax and recharge. It's a way to reconnect with nature, with culture, with loved ones, and so on. And this is exactly part of what I did when visiting Puerto Rico during my last trip over there.
I took a Girls Trip with a group of besties - some Ladies that are dear to my heart. This was a time to revisit La Isla del Encanto while seeing some of my friends enjoyed their 1st time in Puerto Rico.
This vacation really gave me some great opportunities to relax and reconnect. One of the great ways I relaxed and took time to reconnect with nature when I stopped at the area of Loíza - which is a coastal town near San Juan. My friends and I did some site seeing around the beach side community of Piñones and stopped at a wonderful restaurant called Contra Viento y Marea - located just in front of a beautiful beach area. The food was amazingly fresh and the beach view was just beautiful. Plus, the service was one of a kind - it felt like we were part of the community.
I highly recommend you make Loíza one of your stops in Puerto Rico. It's an area with a very beach town vibe, with very friendly people, and it offers a great way to reconnect with nature and relax your mind.
Another great way me and my friends were able to relax was by staying in Fajardo - a region in eastern Puerto Rico. This is another beach town with a wonderful coastal line inside Puerto Rico. Not only can you enjoy a great beach area, but you can also reconnect with nature through sites like El Yunque national park and the amazing bioluminescent Laguna Grande.
I must say we went big in this area and stayed at the amazing El Conquistador Resort - a paradise resort inside a paradise area. This ocean-front resort has everything needed for a great vacation and it's centralize location makes it easy to go out and visit Fajardo.
While staying here, I was able to just enjoy the beauty of the Island. I really was able to relax and be grateful for life and the nature around me. Whether I was by the pool, at one of the restaurants, or even by the room balcony, I was able to breathe in peace and relax my mind and soul.
One of the great things about this resort is the easy access to a wonderful beach area called Isla Palomino - a small private island near the coastal area of Fajardo. This island can be access by traveling in a ferry and it offers beach and water activities while also offering good restaurants and bar areas. But if you are just like me, the only activity needed was to bathe in its crystal water and lay down in a beach chair. It was a great way to relax and take in some Vitamin D - much needed in order to recharge for sure!
There was so much more that can be done in Fajardo. This is why I also recommend this town in Puerto Rico: not only does it have an amazing beach town, an amazing resort area, and great activities - but it's also a gateway to connect with two (2) amazing island-towns in Puerto Rico: Isla Culebra and Vieques (places that can be access by ferry from Fajardo).
There's so much I would love to share about this trip. Yet, these are definitely some of the top places and activities that helped me relax and recharge in Puerto Rico.
